Today for WiiM Pro and WiiM Pro Plus users, we released firmware version 4.8.525956 that allows users to Airplay Cast to AirPlay 2-enabled devices.

What is AirPlay Casting?

AirPlay Casting revolutionizes how you stream audio by transforming your WiiM Pro into a powerful Wi-Fi audio transmitter. This feature allows you to seamlessly cast audio to a wide array of AirPlay 2-enabled devices, including speakers, soundbars, and AV receivers such as HomePod, Sonos, and other AirPlay 2-compatible devices.

Previously, your WiiM Pro acted as an AirPlay 2 receiver; now with AirPlay 2 Casting, your WiiM device is a transmitter, similar to your iPhone, Mac PC, or Apple TV.

This capability is especially beneficial when you wish to transmit audio from sources like a record player, a non-Apple TV, or a PC to your existing AirPlay 2 device via a Wi-Fi network. With AirPlay 2 Casting, you can enjoy the flexibility and convenience of wireless audio streaming, enhancing your overall audio experience.

Quick Step-by-Step Guide

To help you get started with the AirPlay 2 Casting feature, follow this step-by-step guide:

1. Network Connection: Ensure your WiiM Pro, mobile device, and all AirPlay 2 compatible devices are connected to the same network.

2. Launch WiiM Home App: Open the WiiM Home App on your device and tap the 'Device' tab.

3. Access Device Settings: Select your WiiM device, then tap the Gear Setting icon to access the device-specific configurations.

4. Navigate to Audio Output: Proceed to 'Audio Output' to manage the output of your WiiM Pro.

5. Select AirPlay Receiver: Choose the 'AirPlay Receiver' option and tap the 'Connect' button to select the device you wish to cast to.

6. Choose Your Device: A list of available AirPlay 2-enabled devices will appear. If your desired speaker isn't listed, tap the 'Refresh' icon to update your device list.

7. Select Your Receiver: Choose the AirPlay 2 receiver from the list. You have the option to select multiple devices if you wish.

8. Play Your Audio: Select your preferred audio and hit 'Play'.
